Question

An air conditioner operating at steady state takes in moist air at 30 °C, 1 bar and a wet bulb temperature of 25

An air conditioner operating at steady state takes in moist air at 30 °C, 1 bar and a wet bulb temperature of 25 °C. The moist air is cooled in the dehumidifier unit and some of the water is removed. There is 10 tons of cooling in the dehumidifier (also called the evaporator of an air conditioner). The condensate and the saturated air stream discharging the section is at 10 °C The moist air is then heated in the heater section to 24°C, 1 bar. Use the psychometric chart

a) Find mass flow rate of the dry air.

b) Find the volume flowrate in m3/min.

c) Find the mas flow rate of the water condensing in the cooling section.

d) Calculate the Heat needed to increase the temp from 10 °C to 24°C.

e) What is the relative humidity at 24°C?

Moist air at 300C and 50% RH enters a dehumidifier operating at steady state with a volumetric flowrate of 280 m3/min. the moist air passes over the refrigerating coil and water condenses. The condensate leaves at 100C. Saturated moist air leaves in a separate stream at the same temperature. There is no significant loss of energy by heat transfer to the surroundings and the pressure remains constant at 1.013 bar. What is the rate of condensation of water in kg/min?...
