5 transportation mode

PIPELINE MODE-

description:

  • move a large quantity of large quantity especially fluid over long-distance relatively low cost.

operating service characteristics:

  • continuous, dependable, environmentally friendly.
  • can be laid on a variety of terrain without much difficulty.
  • they are insensitive to surface conditions like a storm, inclement weather, etc.

cost structure characteristics:

  • operating cost is low

advantage /strength:

  • not easily susceptible to damage from Monson driven water.
  • products move through high volume.

disadvantage/ limitations:

  • design for liquid products. and gas
  • if leakage happens at the path it becomes risky.
  • proper monitor needed via pipeline mode of transportation on the junction channel.

MULTIMODAL

description:

  • carriage of goods by two or more of transport under one contract.
  • one document and one transport

operating service characteristics:

  • operating service is quite complex as two or mode included.

cost structure characteristics:

  • operating and carrying cost is high.

advantage /strength:

  • in case of damage, each company carries its own damage so cost divided.
  • the fastest transit of goods.
  • reduce the cost of export and improve competitive position in the international market.
  • minimize time loss at trans shipment points.

disadvantage/ limitations:

  • additional handling processors cost and time-consuming.
  • different means of transport overweigh or exceed expenses

CARRIER(AIR)

description:

  • which carry goods from one place to another through air land and water as a carrier.

operating service characteristics:

  • use for high-value characteristics.

cost structure characteristics:

  • expensive

advantage /strength:

  • fast( shipment may be done in hour)

disadvantage/ limitations:

  • need support from other transportation.
  • cant load much of goods

CABLE

description:

  • used cable as a carrier to carry from one place to another.

operating service characteristics:

  • Can operated every time.

cost structure characteristics:

  • low fixed cost

advantage /strength:

  • comfortable and enjoyable
  • less time taken than via road.
  • less expensive than air

disadvantage/ limitations:

  • limited number of quantity that can be loaded.
  • limited mostly used to carry people, or use in tourism activities.

CONVEYER BELT

description:

  • two or more pulley with the continuous mode of material that rotates about them.
  • moving sidewalk for transporting along with inclined place.

operating service characteristics:

  • operating cost is high as the maintenance cost is needed.

cost structure characteristics:

  • cost is not much high.

advantage /strength:

  • heavy weighted product or even man can be carried easily.

disadvantage/ limitations:

  • carry fewer numbers at a time.
  • take time if the inclined path is more.
