Explain the differences in the stretches of the C=O in salicylic acid and in acetylsalicylic acid.

I found stretches of about 1650 for salicylic acid and 1680 for acetylsalicylic acid. Is it correct for the carboxylic acid C=O stretch to be greater for acetylsalicylic acid? If so, what would cause this? Conjugation/Resonance possibly?

In salicylic acid there is a intramolecular hydrogen bond between OH group and COOH group which decreases the stretching frequency while in acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) there is no hydrogen bond since He atom of OH group is replaced by acetyl group, hence it shows peak with little bit more frequency.
