Answer #1

Destruction of microorganisms and the inhibition of microbial growth is not simple matter because there are other factors that influence the efficiency of antimicrobial agents. Some of these factors are:

  1. Population size because an equal fraction of microbes are killed in each interval, a larger population requires longer time to be killed then small population.
  2. Population composition: The effectiveness of an agent which is greatly due to different nature of the organism since susceptibility in each organism is different.
  3. Concentration or intensity of antimicrobial drug: More often not always, more concentrated or intense antimicrobial agent is, more rapidly microorganisms are destroyed.
  4. Duration of exposure: the longer antimicrobial drug is exposed to a microbial population, more rapidly organisms are killed.
  5. Temperature increase in temperature in a chemical agent enhances its activity to kill a microbial population.
  6. Local environment: Depending on situations And Atmosphere the effectiveness of the agent will vary.
