The Government efforts to help the Native Americans failed, because it aimed at giving all the wrong things, and not what they really wanted. They were deprived of their lands, made to live on reservations and their tribal land rights were given to casinos. Basically, the treaties which was made with them was breached.

Their history, tradition and culture is overlooked and the modern values are being imposed on them. They are not given leadership positions or a place in politics. They were the richest tribes in the country but now made to live in the poorest places.

The tribal council system of governance is criticized for being corrupted and prioritizing the interest of council members. The governing document allows only a single branch of Government to control judiciary. This system does not allow tribal people to grow over time.
