Emotional self regulation or emotion regulation is the ability to respond to the ongoing demands of experience with the range of emotions in a manner that is socially tolerable and sufficiently flexible to permit spontaneous reaction as well as the ability to delay spontaneous reaction as needed.
Emotional self regulation belongs to the broader set of emotion regulation process of which includes both the regulation of ones own feeling and regulation of other people feelings.
In case of child emotional regulation or self regulation is the ability to monitor and modulate which emotion one has when you have them . Learning to self regulate is a key milestones are laid in the earliest years of life.

In addition to gaining thought awareness , mindfulness let's us explore and identify all aspects of the external world , including our body, simple mindful exercises such as breath control or sensory relaxation.
3. Cognitive reappraisal--
Cognitive reappraisal includes alerting the way we think .Cognitive reappraisal skills may include practices such as thought replacement .
Example--we can replace thought like 'My boss hates me', 'I am no longer needed here'. With alternative such as 'My boss is upset at this moment ,I am sure I can makeup for this',.
