In water this bond can form long chain of water molecules. Water's boiling point is high because of these bonds. This makes water to exist for large range of temperature. Also while water freezes, to keep inter atomic distance large for hydrogen bond. water expands with low temperature. This is responsible for ice sheet to float above large water bodies and to keep lower water insulated from freezing, so aquatic life can live because of this in freezing cold condition.
