By the end of this lab, the student will be able to collect, classify, verify, and document functional and nonfunctional requirements.

Task # 2: Identify functional and nonfunctional requirements from the following business requirements:

  1. The system should have a very easy and intuitive view of customer transactions
  2. Authorized users should be able to modify customer’s personal information.
  3. The system should calculate monthly summary of inventory and send email using mail server’s contact list.
  4. The system should allow users to customize workflows. All system development should be done using scrum methodology.

Solution:

1) Functional Requirements: Functional requirements are the characteristics that define what the system does or must not to do,how the system should work or react to particular inputs and how the system should behave in particular situation.In short it specifies state what the system should not to do. 2) Non-Functional Requirements : Non-functional requirements are the characteristics of the system that defines system behaviour,features and general characteristics that affect the user experience.Usability,availability and portability are important constraints of non-functional requirements.This are ofthen apply to the system as a whole rather than individual features or services.

From the above buisness requirements functional and non-functional requirements are :

  • Functional requirements : b) Authorized users should be able to modify customer's personal information. c) The system should calculate monthly summary of inventory and send email using mail server's contact list. d) The system should allow users to customize workflows. All system development shuold be done using scrum methodology.
