Answer #1

2) List the four most abundant gases in today`s atmosphere,

1. Nitrogen or N2 is 78.08%
2. Oxygen or O2 is 20.95%
3. Water vapour or H2O is 0 to 4%
4. Argon or Ar is 0.93%

3-of the four most abundant gases in our atmosphere,

Nitrogen or N2 is 78.08%

Which one shows the greatest variation at the earth`s surface?

Water vapour

6- List the two most abundant greenhouse gases in the earth`s atmostphere , What makes them greenhouse gases?

The two most abundant greenhouse gases are water vapor (which causes about 36 - 70% of the greenhouse effect, not including clouds), carbon dioxide (which causes 9 - 26%)

10- a) explain the concept of air pressure in terms of mass of air above some level .

B) Why does air pressure alwasy decrease with increasing height above the surface?

(a) Pressure is a consequence of the weight of the atmosphere. A vertical column of atmosphere pushes down on whatever is beneath it with a force equal to its weight. That force divided by the cross-sectional area of the column is the force per unit area, or pressure, exerted at the base of the column. (b) As height above the surface increases, the amount of air above that level and therefore its weight and the resulting pressure all decrease.

12- What is the average or standard temperature lapse rate in the trop sphere?

In the troposphere the average rate is approximately 6.5

    10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
