The criteria-based evaluation strategy is a way of evaluating the effectiveness of a program in which certain factors related to the associated program were defined in advance by the program authorities so that those factors will be validated against the predefined benchmark for the duration of the program. The program that adopted such criteria-based evaluation method has both advantages and disadvantages associated with the evaluation process. Now, let's discuss in detail such advantages and disadvantages in case of a Public Health Program.

1. Advantages:- In the case of a criteria-based evaluation strategy for Public health programs, the following are some points which are considered as the advantages of the evaluation strategy:-

a. The effectiveness of the treatment offered by the Public Health Program is very high for those who completed the treatment.

b. With respect to the Implementation of the public health program, based on the guidelines provide the intended information to measure the outcome of the program.

c. Such Public Health Programs are very cheap with respect to the costing of the program implemented to the mass public.

d. Enhancing the chance that the program initiative's goals and objectives are being achieved in order to spread and contain any public contagious disease.

e. Help in identifying what components of program initiative worked or not worked, will help to strengthen the future program in a better way.

f. It helps in identifying the program areas that need improvement in the future to provide the best service possible to the public.

2. Disadvantages:-

a. With respect to the effectiveness of the treatment offered by the health program, if the number of participants who attended the treatment program is very less, then the whole purpose or objective of conducting the Public Health Program is assumed to be not achieved.

b. The sample collected during the program implementation might not be random samples, so the resulting outcome of the sample study can not be generalized across the public.

c. Due to the lack of management support, the results of the program are often poorly constructed with unreliable information on which to base decisions for the program output.

d. Dues to lack of skills and resources, the results were based on false assumptions and conclusions from inaccurate, missing or irrelevant data collected during the program.

e. The fear of the consequences of the outcome of the program sometimes doesn't solve its objective and future improvement of the program implementation.
