Question

Constants Part A The electric-power industry is interested in finding a way to store electric energy during times of low demand for use during peak- demand times. One way of achieving this goal is to use large inductors. What inductance L would be needed to store energy E 3.0kWh (kilowatt-hours) in a coil carrying crnt I 300 A? View Available Hint(s) Submit

Answer #1

here,

energy = 3 kW.hr

I = 300 A

let the inductance is L

as the energy stored = 0.50 L * I^2

3 * 3600 * 1000 = 0.50 * L * 300^2

solving for L

L = 240 H

the inductance needed is 240 H

    Hello, I have three questions on Induction Effects. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Q1.) Consider the inductor in the context of an energy storage device. The electric-power industry would like to find efficient ways to store surplus energy generated during low-demand hours to help meet customer requirements during high-demand hours. Perhaps superconducting coils can be used. How much energy, in kWh, could be stored in a 310 H inductor carrying a current of 370 A ? Q2.) The electric-power...

    Please summarise below in a concise way. Alternative energy is studied as a result of the increasing costs of energy, the harm that fossil fuel may be costing the planet and the fact the energy demand is going up and the supply of fossil fuels may be going down. Energy and economic growth have always been going up, the more energy we consume, the more wealth we create as seen in the GDP of developed nations such as the USA,...

    Walmart’s Bargaining Power over Suppliers Case Study When Walmart and other discount retailers began in the 1960s, they were small operations with little purchasing power. Since the discounters did not have high sales volume, the nationally branded companies set the price. This meant that the discounters had to look for other ways to cut costs,...
