Reflect on the following prompt in 350-450 words.

Scenario 2: Jaimie has started the study on disease Z. The computer goes through all of the data and uncovers that there is a particular group of people (Profile X) who will not be able to recover from the disease no matter what treatments they try. People with profiles D and F are able to recover with treatment. Atlantis does not have enough treatment programs to treat everyone with disease Z. The waitlists are months long and many patients urgently need help. The treatment programs consider using the profile information to decide who gets admitted for treatment and who does not. (1 The term ‘computer’ was chosen to avoid using technical jargon but to connote that a machine (and not a human clinician or health expert) would essentially divide people in treated and untreated groups. )

- Do you think treatment programs should be allowed to use the profile information to decide who gets admitted for treatment? Why or why not?

It is later discovered that there was a mistake in the way the data was collected, and it turns out that a lot of Profile X patients actually do respond to a particular treatment regime. - What should happen now? [Prompts: for Jaimie, Atlantans, the government, the untreated patients] - Whose responsibility is the mistake? - What would Atlantans think?

Answer #1

The treatment program should be allowed to use the profile imfromation to decide who gets admitted for treatment because a machine can easily divide the patients according to their profile that is created according to the data collected, machine is able to quickly sort the patients and easily able to maintain the list of the patient in each profile and there is no need for any manaul work like managing the data which will be requiring much more time and resources to decide the profile of each patients.

If data turns out to be incorrect than the Jaimie and the government should consider the most critical cases of the porfile X patient and admit them for the treatment as there might chances for them to be saved and they should update the data in program accordingly so that their should be no mistake in future like this. The Atlantan and untreated patient should not create a problem for the goevernement and they should support them in order to serve more ptients as soon as possible.

The responsibility for this mistake should be the way of considering the data, the data should have conatined more info regarding the medical history of the patients so that is less discrepancy in the formulated data, the program created profile according to the data it was provided, there is no responsibility of the program and Jaimie as she didnt provided the data, it was no ones responsibility as the data can be incorrect sometimes.

Atlantan should be thinking that how careless is our healthcare system that make such as mistake and risk the lives of the patients, but soon, they will also realise that the it was not the responsible of the government or Jaimie or Health department because many people hides their own medical history to prevent them from some unforeseen situation( like drug history).
