Answer #1

As this is having more the four question I am answering five of them

Q How would the resolving power (resolution) change if one were to use ultra violet light instead of visible light in a microscope?

Ans: B-the value would increase giving better resolution because the resolution is dependent on the wavelength, and it is inversely proportional  i.e., higher wavelength would give lesser resolution

Q: You have been asked by your boss to buy a compound microscope. You view two microscopes priced the same but with different numerical aperture values. Which will you purchase, a microscope with a higher or lower numerical aperture?

Answer: A. higher; higher numerical aperture allows more light to lens thus offers better resolution

Q: The oil- immersion or 100x objective lens has the shortest working distance.

Answer. A-True; because the distance between lens and element is very less

Q: The oil immersion or 100x objective lens provides the highest magnification.

Answer a. True, the name it self indicate (100X; or 100 times)

Q: Identify when negative stains are primarily used. Note, more than one option may be correct.

Answer: it is used for multiple purpose such as (B). to stain cells that are too delicate to be heat-fixed (C). where accurate size determination is crucial.

Evaluate the following statements, and select those that correctly apply to the properties of microscopes. When observing specimens with the 100x lens, adding a drop of oil to the slide will improve the resolving power; the image will be clear rather than blurry. If oil is not used with the 100x lens, the virtual image will be less bright, compared to specimens observed with a drop of oil on the slide. The degree of contrast between a specimen and its...

RESOLUTION: This property of the compound microscope is the degree to which the detail in the specimen is retained in the magnified image. It is the ability of a microscope to distinguish two closely spaced objects as separate and distinct entities. Conventional light microscopes have a resolution of about 0.2 μm. RESOLVING POWER (d) is the closest spacing between two points at which the points can still be seen rly as separate entities. The smaller the resolving power, the smaller...
