Explain the primary problems associated with nuclear energy and how we try to solve those problems.
Ans: NUCLEAR ENERGY
The energy released during the process of nuclear fission or nuclear fusion is termed as Nuclear Energy.
The primary problems due to the nuclear energy are the following:
(i) Environmental Impact- The process of mining of Uranium is not a clean process. The transportation of nuclear fuels to and from the power plants are representing pollution hazards.
(ii) Radioactive Waste Disposal- The waste transmits radiation and high temperature, which could be possibly consume any compartment it hold on. It could also damage both living things in and around near to the plants.
(iii) Nuclear Accidents- The radioactive wastes produced can cause serious health effects on the lives of people and to the environment.
(iv) High cost- The administrations and the included materials cost high expenses which make it less desirable to invest into a plant.
(v) Uranium is finite- Like all other elements uranium is also finite and is found only in some countries. This cause make it more expensive to mine refine and transport. This could also lead to the pollution hazard as mention earlier with the transportation.
(vi) Hot targets for Militants- Uranium could possibly end the world if it goes to the wrong hands. The weapons made out of Uranium could be managed safely.
The problems could be solved by
(i) The cost of nuclear infrastructure have to be lowered.
(ii) New reactors design are formulated which could undergo nuclear fission.
(iii) The waste could be tightly sealed in containers and and be buried within concrete and rocks.
