Answer #1

In a manufacturing industry where there is a structural framework environment, there is clarity in the goals, the cause and effect relationships are well explained and understood by both the servant and the leadership. There is less conflict, uncertainty or ambiguity among the employees in the structural framework.

Considering how does each servant leadership principles of Listening, Persuasion and Stewardship applies in this structural environment are:

  1. Listening- Both servant leaders must reinforce this skill by listening to others. Servant leaders together contribute by listening effectively and identifying the will of the group. In the manufacturing sector where structural framework environment exists, listening plays a crucial role. The servant leadership should listen intently so that the team performs the operations effectively and seek to find ways in areas of improvement. This helps them to achieve the organizational objectives in terms of production and revenue.
  2. Persuasion- Servant leaders seek to convince or persuade others rather than coerce them to do a work. In a manufacturing environment where the objectives are clear, there might be a need to work extra hours to meet the sudden increase in the demand. This demand can be accommodated by producing the required quantity in the manufacturing sector. The servant leaders are convinced of this situation and convince others to work extra hours to meet the demand.
  3. Stewardship- Stewardship refers to leader prepares the organization to effectively contribute to the well-being of the society. Servant leadership principle of stewardship can be applied to the manufacturing environment which has a structural framework environment where there is little uncertainty and ambiguity, the servant leaders can apply the principle of stewardship to prepare the organization to contribute to the greater good of the society by manufacturing products that are less harmful to the society. For example, Allbirds is a shoe manufacturing company which manufactures shoes from natural material rather than using the synthetic materials. This strategy would save the environment from plastics.
