Once everything was in motion I reached out to one of my colleagues that was a Branch Manager and asked her about the retail side, because they were safe and purchased. The mortgage division was not it was being sold meaning I would be without a job. Answer #1

A.

In organizations getting flattened, there are scope of career progression to move into the different departments, functions and or desired roles with key skills that brings more motivation. It is one of the ways to progress and build a career path. But, flattened organization does not mean that all employees in a function working at the same level. Rather, it is more about hierarchy to deal with the flattened structure. So, individuals can also move in a higher position in the same function or department. For example, a manager can become deputy general manager, then general manager and assistant vice president while the organization is flattened in nature. It is a matter of reporting that changes. Hence, flattened organizations also provide equal opportunities for the career progression.

B.

The opportunities will be less in flattened organization for upward movement when it is compared with the traditional organizational structure, but it creates more motivation at work due to employee empowerment and faster decision making process. It makes people to work and identify opportunity to grow in lateral movements as well as via different projects pursued by the organization. It brings necessary experience, recognition and pay rise along with the leadership abilities. These are what expected by anybody in the organization and it makes the right environment for anyone designing a career path and grow.
