If we talk about the education and developmet , theory of Jean Piaget come in everybody mind. Lets have a look on theories -------------

Child-centered program :--- Piaget beleves that every child develop ,as how they see the world or by immtation. He give four stages of congnitive development. The basic area for the child to obtain the maximum level of developing his competence and personality. The authorities in learning should properly consider the child’s learning style, interest, ability and his individual requirements. The child is given some relevant instructions through play. Shaping the teaching methods should be founded on the child’s line of interest. A child should experience freedom in learning and there should be no tension between the educator and the student. Although there still a certain degree of control that is being exercised by the teachers. A progressive and critical pedagogy can be achieved if the child is no longer being constrained in joining the group discussion.

Inductive method by  Roger Bacon is also about the student- oriented or child- centered programes, where child discovers his own law etc.

Teacher- directed programe :--- Like wise inductive method, one more method is there called Deductive method. In this student/child depends on others to be told law, also known as teacher oriented programe. No freedom to learn, he does as he is told. Here learning takes place by imitation.
