Question

Look up the increase in CO2 concentration in the atmosphere over a one year period. Use the difference between the average CO2 concentrations in 2014 and 2015 at the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii. Make sure you are using a credible website (i e· noaa.gov) and not a newspaper website or something like that. Report the value in ppmv.

Answer #1

The CO2 concentrations in atmosphere in 2014 and 2015 are 398.65 ppm and 400.83 ppm respectively.

The value of CO2 concentration n atmosphere at week beginning on September 2, 2018 is 405.47 ppm and weekly value from 1 year ago was 403.92 ppm.

Hence the increases/ difference in the concentraion of CO2 in atmosphere is 405.47-403.92=1.55 ppm.

(8 pts) Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere dissolves in water to establish an equilibrium that can increase the acidity of aqueous solutions in the environment. This equilibrium is CO2 (g) ⇌ CO2 (aq), Kh = 3.1 * 10^2 at 25°C. Kh is called the Henry’s law constant, which relates the solubility of the gas CO2 in the aqueous solution, [CO2], to the partial pressure of CO2 over the solution, p(CO2): [CO2] (M) = Kh * p(CO2) (atm) During the preceding...

PLEASE ANSWER CLEARLY The earth's climate is getting warmer. The most common theory attributes the increase to atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide (CO2), a greenhouse gas. Here is a scatterplot showing the mean annual CO2 concentration in the atmosphere, measured in parts per million (ppm) at the top of Mauna Loa in Hawaii and the mean annual air temperature over both land and sea across the globe, in degrees Celsius for the years 1959 to 2011. Background: Ancient lycophytes were the dominant plants on Earth during the Carboniferous Period, which is named for the coal that formed from those ancient plants that lived 300 million years ago. As humans use fossil fuels such as coal and gas, we release carbon in the form of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the air. Because CO2 traps heat near the surface of the earth, it is known as a greenhouse gas and contributes to climate change. However, carbon is also...
