Answer #1

Firstly, starbucks gas partnered with Tata Global beverages whose products serve close to 500,000 cups of tea and coffee every day. They own products such as tetley, tata tea and almost any of the leading tea makers in countries such as the USA UK and Australia. Secondly, Tata is a trustworthy brand name, and those who can manage Starbucks's appetite. The 50/50 joint venture between Starbucks Coffee Company (Nasdaq: SBUX) and Tata Global Beverages Limited, Tata Starbucks Private Limited, today marked the launch of its 100th store in Mumbai and its five-year anniversary in India, with a range of strategic initiatives that reaffirm its long-term business commitment. Once Pepsi arrived in India it did so as part of a joint venture with Voltas, a subsidiary of Tata Group. As Tata Starbucks expands to serve more customers across the world, the company will open three Starbucks coffee heritage stores in the historic town of Kolkata in early 2018, including a store at the iconic Park Mansion. Starbucks stores will carry handcrafted signature drinks, comprehensive food selections and the city's distinct "third location".

Starbucks should have come to India without a partner because of the new legal framework; instead, it has opted to enter into the partnership with Tata. However, analysts note that at the time of the launch of Lehar Pepsi Tata had little background in consumer products; Voltas was a marketing firm that had managed successes such as Amul brand of dairy products and Pioma Industries producer of soft drink concentrates. This time, observers claim, the Tatas carry even more to the table. First, through chains such as Westside (clothing and accessories), Landmark (books), Croma (consumer electronics), and Titan (watches and jewelry), they have gained tremendous retail expertise. In reality Noel Tata, who runs many of the retail brands, is likely to be asked to manage the Starbucks company according to the economic daily Business Standard.
