In the formation of ATP from ADP, NADH becomes NAD+, by the following reaction.

NADH -----> NAD+ + H+ + 2e-

Therefore, increasing pH of the suspension, that is, decreasing the [H+], promotes the oxidation of NADH and hence an increase in the rate of synthesis of ATP may be observed.
