Mutagens are compounds which results in irreversible and heritable changes in the genetic material.

repair of UV induced damage

The ultraviolet (UV) rays can induce mutation in the cell components . This can be repaired by the removal of damaged base pair, reversal of damage by photolyase etc.

photolyases

it is an enzyme which repair the damage caused by ultraviolet radiation in DNA

nucleotide excision repair

Damage caused by chemical, mutation and radiation can be repaired by nucleotide excision repair. I.e. it is DNA repair mechanism.

methylases

It is an enzyme which is required in the methylation reaction. It help in the transfer of methyl group from a donor to acceptor

xeroderma pigmentosum

A skin disorder which results from high sensitivity to sunlight. A defect in DNA repair system ,result in hypersensitivity to ultraviolet rays and it may leads to skin cancer.
