Introduction:-A good number of scientist a reaserchers finding very difficult in carrying out their reserch work successfully due to lack of good knowledge of data collection method and application.

Meaning of data:- The world data use the plural form of datum. It has been defined in several ways according to different persons in their area of specialization and ocation in this study data is referred to as a collection of facts, such as values or measurments, observations or even just discription of things. Data collection is very important in any type of reserch study.

Classification of data:- Data can be classified intto primary and secondary data primaray data are those that you have collected your self or data collected at source or the data collected orinally by individual, focus groups and a panel of respondent specifically setup by the resercher.

Advantages of primary data:-1)More accurate information can be gotten. 2) It is less expensive. 3) It is current.

Disadvantages of primary data:-1) It is time consuming2) More difficult to collect.

Secondary data:-A secondary data reserch project involves the gathering or the use of existing data for which they were originally collected.

Advantages of secondary data:-Less expensive, more easier to collect than primary data, csot effective. Disadvantages of secondary data:-not current, error rate is high, the questionaries may have been poorely desinged.

Type of data

1) Continuous data:-data that us measured on an interval scale such as lenght or weight. It doesn't have a precise value it depends on the required degree of aacuracy.

2) Discreate data:--data that are obtain by counting and are measured precisely.

3) Original data:- Data that is given a numerical value and can only be blessed in a suitable category.

Ways of collecting data:-

1) Interview method:-an interview is a series of question a resercher adresses personally to respondents.

2) Face to Face interview:-this type provides rich data offer the opportunity to establish report with the interviewees and to help explore and the understand complex issues.

3) Telephone interview:-It is help to contact subjects dispersed over various geographic reasons and obtain responses from them immidiately on contact.

4)Questinnaire method:-it is series of written questions a resercher supplies to subjects requesting their response.

5) survey method:-this consist of finding facts in perticular field of inquiry.

Conclusion:--conclusively the heart of evaluation in every reaserch work is to gather information about the program or intervention in ecaluating and analysing it, to determine what it tens about the research. The effectiveness of what the resercher is doing as well as about how he or she maintain and improve the situation.

Hence the quality and the success of a reaserch work deoends on the knowledge of data collection method and applications.
