3) Price earning ratio is the ratio which tells us about a share's market price relation with its earning capacity. In other words a high p/e ratio may mean share is overpriced in the market while its earning capacity is not so much or vice versa.

earning per share = total earning / no. of outstanding shares. = 5mn/20mn = 0.25

p/e ratio = price of share / earning per share = 10/0.25 = 40
