Answer #1

Ans-13. In aerobic respiration glucose breakdown to carbon dioxide produces 36 ATP, other hand fermentation produced 2 ATP per glucose molecule. During glycolysis, glucose molecule breaks into two pyruvate producing 2 ATP .

Glucose

|

2 pyruvate

Oxygen / \ No Oxygen

Aerobic respiration . Fermentation there are no more ATP produced. So total ATP is 2.

When oxygen is present

produced 34 more ATP

by kreb cycle and electron

transport chain. So,

net 36 ATP produced

in aerobic respiration.

Ans-14. Fermentation allows glycolysis to continue in absence of oxygen. If oxygen is not present fermentation happens instead. For instance during exercise fermentation occurs in our muscles, produce lactic acid. Fermentation also use in commercial purpose such as making alcohol.
