1) Oxone is Potassium peroxymonosulfate, it acts as an oxidizing agent.

2) The I- is oxidized by the excess of oxidant and the brown color indicates the presence of this oxidant. Generally, the test mixture is added with a starch solution to give deep blue/dark brown color indicates that the oxidant is still present in the reaction mixture.

3) Green reaction (here it is oxidation): Any reaction that neither uses any hazardous substance nor it creates hazardous waste. Additionally, the green reaction uses less and environment-friendly reagents and solvents and gives a good atom economy.
There are mainly three green principles used in this reaction:
i) The reaction creates environment-friendly waste
ii) The oxidant used in the reaction is oxone which is much safer than the traditional chromium-based oxidants.
iii) the starting material is borneol, naturally occurring and can be reproduced in naturally.
iv) Ethyl acetate is comparatively green solvent and can be recycled after use.

4) The IR shows a peak at 3331: indicating the presence of -OH stretching, -OH functional group is not expected in the product. It may come from the starting material cyclohexanol.
There is a carbonyl peak at 1717. Hence the product contains ketone as expected.
Thus the product is not pure and is contaminated with starting material cyclohexanol.
