This is the first stage of labor so giving epidural can slow down contractions it is important to make her understand that she need to progress into active labor ( epidural can be give only if the cervix is 4- 5cm dilated along with regular contractions)

Nursing care:

1) Reassure her .

2) prop up her bed to 30 degree to facilitate breathing and relieve pressure from the uterus.

3) Ensure that her bladder is not full as it can cause discomfort and pain.

4) Provide enema if required as per doctor order.
