  1. What are the phenotype of the parents?

Answer- Father will be Tt and Mother will be tt

Explanation-

In this case the father can roll the tongue and mother cannot roll the tongue, as the tongue rolling allele is a dominant character, the presence of a single allele can show the character in a person. But not able to roll the tongue character is a recessive one to express itself, it requires the presence of two recessive alleles that is “t” and “t” so mother will be “tt” homozygous for the recessive allele and father will be heterozygous dominant because the couple produces both types of children -that is children who are able to roll their tongue and children not able to roll the tongue.

When the father is homozygous dominant and mother is homozygous recessive, all the offspring will be able to roll their tongue as all the offspring contains a single dominant allele. So 100% offspring will be able to roll the tongue, presence of non-rolling offspring is 0%.

Here Phenotypic ratio of offspring is – 1:1

Explanation- when the father is heterozygous dominant and mother is homozygous recessive they are able to produce both types of offspring in the ratio 1:1 , 50% offspring will be able to roll their tongue and 50% offspring will be not be able to roll their tongue.
