MAC (Media Access Control) address is a unique address, which is used to identify the network adapter in uniquely in the network.

The MAC address is printed by the manufacturer at the time manufacturing the adapter, which is generally used to find a computer on a local area network. A 6 byte or 48-bit number is in the MAC address.

Therefore, the MAC address consists of 48 bits.
