Woods International is concerned with providing low cost grocery items to primarily underdeveloped and developing nations that can not afford products at a low cost. It is adopting a new computer system that will enable representatives managers from across the world to place orders directly. In order to ensure accurate and complete orders to each of its client, what types of operational requirements should be considered in acquiring this new system?

Operational Requirements that one must take into consideration while adopting a new system are:

1. Performance Requirements:

This includes how fast is the system responding to the client. As soon as the client logs in, the system must respond by displaying something. The client must have smooth experience while going through the available items and ordering.The query made must be processed instantly with less delay and corresponding updation to the database must be done.

2. Security Requirements:

This requirement focuses on finding potential threats to data and providing a secure structure to counter threats.

The structure might consist of: Authentication of the client, Monitoring of grocery items by authorized personnel.

3. Availability Requirements:

This requirement is a measure of time system or a component of the system is ready to perform its specified time. While adopting the system one must define how much downtime is acceptable and at what times of the day. The downtime should be short and should be done multiple times in a day.

The database must be updated as based on the availability of the items in stock. Updation can be done by checking the grocery items through cameras and removing the items from the list and stock when they not fit to be used.

4. Maintainability Requirements:

These requirements must be given priority while designing the system. These requirements becomes important for optimization of the system. As the system scales up, the maintenance must be done frequently for smooth functioning of the system and the maintenance task must be done within the downtime time of the system only.

5. Monitoring Requirements:

Monitoring of the system means keeping track of the orders made by the clients, updating the grocery items based on their availability, keeping track of the orders processed and delivered. The client must be able to check their order status.

6. Database and Back-up:

The database must be updated instantly whenever an order is placed or delivered, on availability of items. Backup of the data must be done timely like in 6 - 8 months.
