Source of error in the grating.
1- you might know that no grating is ideal in normal experiments we use grating which is made by glass and the which is not a real grating but a replica of the original. This is a major source of error.
2-precision of the spectrometer and random errors are always possible in every experiment. (you may use random error as an answer everywhere both man and machine made)
Source of error in the monochromator
1- first error is same, no monochromator is ideal with single precise wavelength but they have a wavelength close to single wavelength with a small deviation.
2- source and observer should be an infinite distance this means rays from the source should be parallel ideally, but as the source is not at infinity so rays are not parallel. this is one more error
