Management is the essential part of any organization which is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling. Management of every levels should be skilled, experienced and self motivated to acheive individual as well as organizational goals. The best management practice is the outcome of the experienced management. There are many best practices which can be followed in organization. The management practices are communication, leading, setting and demanding realistic goals, open management styles and strategic planning.
Communication is the best practice because a good management can only be managed by good communication. Communication done in an organization can be in any direction top to operational level, middle to operational level or operational to top that is directly bottom to top management. Effective communication is the key to have best management. For example Japan in every organization follows an open communication, every employee participates in decision making. They are employee oriented, asks employees for input and listens employees carefully and consider their opinions in decision making.
Katz and Kahn developed for open system theory that includes external influences like employees, raw material and capital. They also included intangible external influences like status, recognition, satisfaction and personal regards. Segne focused on organization environment where people leader and his subordinates are learning. Max Weber defined the responsibility of workers and behavior is restricted by strict rules, policies and procedures. He believed in bureaucracies. Henry Fayol gave 14 principles of management. McGregor theory says about theory X and theory Y. All these theories are contributing in organization in various ways. In daily operations, Fayol's management rules are being followed. Employers are working according to theory Y even Senge's five disciplines of learning organizations is being practiced by mainly building vision and team learning. In organization when we have closed boundaries the organization environment is not healthy so we should follow an open system where the energy can be taken from the environment.
Peter Senge gave the concept of learning organization. It includes many benefits like gaining efficiency, increased productivity, increment and profit, minimum employee turnover. To become a learning organization 5 disciplines have to be followed.
