Internet in simple terms is the network of networks . Few machines (computers) form a network and then start communicating with each other, there are many such groups . Then these groups combine to from bigger groups and start communicating at larger scale. Then these bigger groups communicate with other bigger groups and this goes on and this forms our internet. Our Internet is much complex than this. It includes rules and protocols about how the computers in small groups communicate with each other and how these groups communicate with outside groups efficiently. It governs the transfer of information at each level of abstraction. It tells us how to send , where to send and which path to follow in order to send data from one computer to another computer. There are so many hardware and software components along with the policies set by so many organisations to build this convoluted infrastructure of internet.

In the initial days it was very hard to transfer information or send email or transfer files over the internet . It required a lot of technical knowledge of hardware and software components. Only techies could use this service and was beyond the reach of common man. For example in those days if you had to send email you had to be knowing the complex commands of SMTP (email protocol) protocol and type those in that boring command prompt(terminal). If you had to transfer any file , you had to know the commands of FTP protocol and again use that boring command prompt for this.

So in order a common man too be benefited from this revolutionary technology and in order to make information sharing easy and Fun World Wide Web was created . WWW is a system which runs or you can say uses the internet for fulfilling its purpose. WWW is the efficient , easy to use and interesting way to store and share information over the internet. Its like an automatic car, where you dont need to have much information about gearing system in order to use the road transport system. Similarly you don't need to have much information about internet or its complex commands or protocols in order to it. Just with the click of mouse and easy to remember web site address you can find any information you want over the browser . WWW makes use of http protocol of internet to provide you the beautiful websites whose address you entered in the browser.
