white applicants with a criminal record were called for the
interview.
What is the effect of a criminal record on black applicants in
the study?

called for the interview who had a criminal record.
How did the number of callbacks received by white males and
African American males compare?
The experiment of the number of callbacks received by White males
and African American males by conducting a matched pair experiment.
In this experiment, Devah Pager took the help of male testers who
applied for the same entry-level jobs in the same newspaper. Fake
information and credentials were provided with similar educational
qualification and experience in the job. Half of the male testers
were White and half were Black. The data was collected after the
applicants received a call back for an interview after they had
submitted their fake applications.
Do you think the disparity in the number of callbacks received
by white males and African American males points to prejudice
against minorities?
Yes, the disparity in the number of callbacks received by white
males and African American males are pointed to prejudice against
minorities. It can be noted from the experiment that the call for
the interview which came to the Whites with a criminal record was
17% and to the Blacks without any criminal record was 14%. This
disparity is easily visible through this result. Even the black
applicants were asked about their criminal record during the call.
On the other hand, the Whites were excluded from this
question.
The chances of getting a job with a criminal record for Whites is
higher than the Blacks with no criminal record. This clearly marks
the prejudice the blacks face in their country.
