Liver function test define the function of enzymes , protein and help to diagnose liver disease. Albumin that makes liver liver. Some enzymes such as alanine transaminases( ALT) alkaline phosphate, aspartate transminase (AST) and gamma glutamyl transpeptidase. Prothrombin is made by liver. Bilirubin is part of bile. Maximum amount of bilirubin cause jaundice. Symptoms of toxins in liver are loss of appetite, nausea, vomit, fever, jaundice, abdominal pain. Common cause of high level of ALT. More than10 times normal are usually due to acute hepatitis and viral infection. When the liver damage due to AST might be indicate problem in muscles.Normal range of AST up to 40 IU/L in adult. A high level of alakine phosphate indicate the blockage of bile duct or bone disease. Normal range of alkaline phosphate up to 120 U/L in adult.
