My professional interest is to become an engineer and I have inclination towards Mechanical, Electrical and Communications Engineering. To decide which stream would best suit me in terms of career prospects and ROI I would seek recommendations from below people. These are members outside of parents and self who can provide a better guidance on the issue

1. Entrance Coaching Institute trainer- an entrance institute trainer would have been a professor at university for a considerable period or an aspirant like me who has scored very well in entrances and is doing his engineering at present. In both cases, they would have seen innumerable students with same dilemma and guided them based on their experience and prospects in the field
2. Cousins or brothers (preferably engineers)- would have knowledge on placement scenarios in campuses and would also know better my field of interest and thereby guide me better
3. Education counsellors – people who make a living give students in my position consultation on emerging trends, prospects in job markets, competition would be apt people to seek guidance
4. Practicing Engineers (Non-family members, known via acquaintances)- to get a neutral perspective on the whole scenario and then to form a conclusion
5. Members at education expo- Gives information on the prospects including higher studies and demand for the stream in foreign countries in case one wishes to work abroad
