The formula of sand is SiO2 (Silicon Dioxide), so 1mole of SiO2 contains 2 moles of Oxygen.

Therefore by finding the number of moles of SiO2 and hence the number of moles of oxygen present in 853 grams of sand, we can get the mass of oxygen present in 853g of sand.
