HAZOP stands for Hazard and Operability analysis.is a structured and systematic tool analysis for system examination and risk management. It provides information about the system abnormality and deviation from the desired result. it gives systematic information and helps to explore the solution through brainstorming and qualitative risk analysis tool.

HAZOP methodology has four phases of study passes through in it's life from initial requirement to final report as follows:

1. Definition: it defines the objectives, area of responsibility and selecting the team.

2. Preparation: it defines the plan of study which involves collection of data, agree the style of recording, estimating the time of plan and arranging a schedule.

3. Examination: it defines the analysis of system by dividing the system into parts and selecting each part to design its root analysis of deviation from desired result. it defines the consequences and causes of deviations to generate the possible remedies for protection of system.

4. Documentation and Follow-up: it defines the record of each analysis for factual description and Follow-up that actions and changes if it necessary. it produce the final output report after analysis of each system's part.
