1. How does culture impact character?

I believe that the culture has very much impacted out character to some extend; because in the history of the Old Testament, I like what it shares, “On reflection, much of the history of the multiple bounties and blessings bestowed on the faithful for adhering to God’s standards of holiness as put forth in the Ten Commandments can be told as a story of character and character formation.” AS of the culture of today so much has changed that the lack of attention to the topic of character and virtue at the organization level reflects concerns, both similar and dissimilar, that have limited attention to the study of virtue and character at the individual level. More specifically, (Cameron et al., 2004: 767) in summarizing these concerns, noted, “Virtuousness has been traditionally viewed as relativistic, culture-specific, and associated with social conservatism, religious or moral dogmatism, and scientific irrelevance. Another words, the culture of today has changed everything about character into what they wanted to be.

2.    Do you agree or disagree with the authors’ perspective on cheating in school?

I agree with the authors perspective for the reason is, that when you are young and you are tempted to cheat in school as a youngster more likely you will be ended doing it in graduate school or at work. I believe that if it doesn’t get corrected and understand that it isn’t right, more likely it can get worse. As it states, “Considered together, substantial evidence exists that students who cheat in college are also more likely to cheat in other aspects of their lives. Alternatively, and highly relevant to our topic of character strength, ethically acting students are less likely to engage in unethical workplace behavior.”

Answer #1

In my opinion the above mentioned post highlights the impact of culture on the character of a person and the perspective on whether cheating can be corrected or not.

I agree with the response being provided which holds that culture does put an impact on the person's character as the culture is directly associated with the beliefs, perspectives and values that a person holds on basis of which they make decisions and which influence how a character is build over a period of time.

The response moreover quotes the old Testament which is not vividly understood as no descriptive explanation is provided to describe the relationship shown between the character and the culture by the quoted content

I also believe that change in culture has ignored the attention towards the virtue and character of a person because the culture today is too focused on changing the character of a person to what they want to be, with minimum attention to what the social upbringing or cultural dimensions provide. Therefore the belief that looking at character as a cultural outcome is considered as religious or moral forms and no scientific relevance definitely limits the attention towards the study.

.

In the another response being provided the perspective about cheating is highlighted to show how cheating done at once might not be corrected and has a more tendency towards growing into a habit in later part of the life. Therefore I agree with the response that cheating should not be considered as right because it can produce ill impact and defeat the very purpose of conducting performance evaluation or tests. I am of the opinion that cheating if made seen as a social evil might not be preferred and adopted by individuals in other aspects of life dealings as they will start to view it as an unethical behavior. Therefore it is the very perspective which needs to be corrected so as to ensure that Cheating is not seen or witnessed as beneficial by youngsters so that they restrain from adopting to it and using it in other aspects of their life.

The response is true in providing that cheating should not therefore be seen as right and I also agree with the belief that ethically strong students are less likely to engage in unethical behavior.

.

Thanks dear student. . Hope I explained well.

Good luck and God bless:)

Deliberate tradition is traditions that are deliberately designed to create a moral society. Confucianism embraces this idea because he wants to design a society where people are good by nature. Some advantages of this tradition is that it promotes empathy, diligence, leading by example, the arts, and service to others. Regarding the quote of page 163 of the reading, I agree that the United States lacks tradition despite being called the melting pot. Rather than embracing and encouraging tradition, America...

Write a reflective paragraph summarizing your thoughts. Organizational change research has been criticized for neglecting the role of history in the study of change (Pettigrew et al., 2001). Much of the existing research tends to treat organizational change as “episodic” and comprising of independent events (Pettigrew, 1987, p. 655). More generally, research in organizational behavior has tended to ignore the theoretical and methodological significance of context in the examination of work attitudes and outcomes (Johns, 2006). In the studies reported...
