Is this step taken to protect the patient against diseases on the caregiver’s hands? Is this step required to protect the caregiver from a blood-borne disease that the patient might have?

It is very important to wear protective gloves for any laboratory work. It is very important to wear the right personal equipment in order to protect from any infections. It is beneficial for both the patient as well as for the healthcare paractioner. With already an exposed bloody wound, the patient is very much vulnerable to get secondary infections.And also, caregiver must protect themselves from blood- borne disease that the patient might have.

Therefore its beneficial for both the patient and the caregiver .
