Answer #1

Answer: 0.475 (As shown below)

Change in allele frequency in the recipient population is:

ΔPc = m( Po − Pr) = 0.1(0.25 - 0.5) = 0.1 (- 0.25) = - 0.025

where, ΔPc is the change in allele frequency in the recipent population,

Pr is the allele frequency in the recipient population

Po is the allele frequency in the original population

Therefore allele new frequency in the recipient population = Pc = Pr + ΔPc = 0.5 + (- 0.025) = 0.475

    Can someone explain how to solve this in detail? A population of water snakes is found on an island in lake Erie. Some of the snakes are banded and some are unbanded; banding is caused by an autosomal allele that is recessive to an allele for no bands. The frequency of banded snakes on the island is 0.16; whereas the frequency of the banded snakes in the mainland is 0.25. One summer, a large number of snakes migrate from the...
