Last Sunday was the New York City Marathon. Using the information on human resource management and individual differences, discuss what we can learn from the marathon runners to create an engaged workforce. (For example, one thing that is obvious is that every runner has a clear goal-to finish.)

answer-

a marathon is a long distance race which can be completed either racing or just walking but the point to grab is that each racer has target set to achieve.

lets use the points of marathon in context of human resource management & individual differences-

1- in an marathon runners set a fixed target so human resource management can set thier targets & set the workforce in that direction to acheive that target.

for example- set monthly targets or quartly targets for the employees so that these short targets can complement the overall company target.

2- in marathon, racers have planned thier strategy to reach the target just like that human resource management can plan the strategies to achieve the targets. these strategies could be performance appraisal, traning, coordintaion & cooperation among each employee etc.

3- in a marathon, racers work very hard to reach thier objectives just like that employees of the company should work hard to achieve thier individual as well as organizational objectives. employee should remove thier individual differences & work for the overall goal of the company.

4- in a marathon, the race is very long so racers divide thier time to compelete the race in time. just like that employee should know about time management means they should alot a time to each task & activity because right job at right is productive. if a job is done on wrong time or late then it would have no importance. so human resource management can improve thier time management skills from the context of marathon racers.
