In protection motivation theory people tend to follow an instruction due to four factors They are

Perceived severity of threatening

perceived probability of occurance

the efficacy of recommended perceived behaviour

perceived self efficacy

the smoking camapigns tells the truth to the people that the probability of cancer to the smokers is high and that will threaten them. It als states that the individual can come out the same with individual courrage and Medical help. This makes a person to be motivated to come out of it. So this imparts confidence in a person to come out of the same

social congnitive theory focus on learning by observing other within the context of socila interactiona nd experience. this happen here beacuse the campaign adress the people directly and they can learn by observing the experience of people and about the danger caused by smoking.
