Q.1. We want the standard deviation (SD) to be low for our research because it helps in minimizing the error variance. If the SD is too high then the data would be too scattered and the number of outliers would be high. It would then be too difficult to compute the data as well as to decipher any conclusive findings from the study.

Q. 3. a. Research Hypothesis: The comparability of the average GPA of this year’s graduating students with an average GPA of graduating students of the last 40 years.

b. Null Hypothesis: There is no significant difference in the average GPA of this year’s graduating students and the average GPA of graduating students of the last 40 years.

c. Directional Research Hypothesis: The average GPA of this year’s graduating students would be higher than the average GPA of graduating students of the last 40 years.

Nondirectional Research Hypothesis: There would be a significant difference between the average GPA of this year’s graduating students and the average GPA of graduating students of the last 40 years.
