Discuss in general terms the structure and function of the following parts of the central nervous system:
a) medulla b) olfactory bulb c) amygdala d) hypothalaus
Ans- a) Medulla= The medulla contains centres which control respiration, cardiovascular reflexes and gastric secretions. The medulla oblongata (or medulla) is a long stem-like structure located in the brainstem. It is anterior and partially inferior to the cerebellum.
b) Olfactory bulb= It is very part of our nervous system which help in feel odour of any substance that have any odour. It its structure located in the forebrain of vertebrates that receives neural input about odours detected by cells in the nasal cavity. The axons of olfactory receptor cells extend directly into the highly organized olfactory bulb, where information about odours is manipulation.
c)Amygdala= It is inner
parts of cerebral hemispheres and a
associate with deep structures . It is an almond-shape section of
nervous tissue located in the temporal lob of the brain. It
connected thought to be a part of the limbic system within the
brain, which is responsible for emotions, survival instincts, and
memory.
d) Hypothalaus= A very important part of the brain called hypothalamus lies at the base of the thalamus. The hypothalamus contains a number of centres which control body temperature, urge for eating and drinking. It also contains several groups of neurosecretory cells, which secrete hormones called hypothalamic hormone.
