Question 5

Ans: A

Catecholamines are group of hormones mainly synthesized by the Adrenal gland and released during stressful conditions. They helps the body to deal with adverse conditions. They increases heart rate, blood pressure and blood glucose levels in response to stress as a part of fight or flight response. They just have half life of few minutes after which are broken down or degraded and latter eliminated through urine. The main catecholamines are Dopamine, Epinephrine (Adrenaline) and norepinephrine. Dopamine and norepinephrine can act as neuromodulators in cental nervous system and as hormones while circulating in the blood. They are synthesized from amino acid tryosine.

  • Acetylcholine act as a neurotansmitter. They are primary neurotransmitter secreted by neurons. When the impulse reaches the terminal end of neuron acetylcholineis  released into the neuromuscular junction brining about different actions.

Question 6

Ans:B

Leutinizing horomone is considered as the main Gonadotrophic hormone. They help maintain the functions of both testis in male and ovary in female.

Leuteinising hormone: LH is screted by the pituitary and released under the influence of Gonadotrophin releasing hormone (GnRH) secreted by the hypothalamus.LH causes the Leydig cells of the testis to produce testosterone. strict levelof testosterone is maintained by the body.when the level increases it inhibit the hypothalamus secreting the GnRH and inturn the secretion of LH and production of testosterone this is called Negative feed back mechanisam.

Leutinising hormone causes ovulation by which egg is released from the ovary to fallopian tube. If fertilization occurs it induces the formation of progestrone from corpus luteum which is required for sustaning the pregnancy.

  • FSH: another gonodatrophic hormone important for the development of primary sex oragans in both males and females. It is secreted by the pituitary galand and helps in mainatining normal growth, development and reproduction.

  • Melanocyte stimulating hormone (MSH): Stimulate the production and release of the Melanin pigment. Important for pigmentation of skin ,colour of hair. They helps body protect against harmful radiations.

  • Thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH): Produced by pituitary they regulate the function of thyroid gland. Thyroid gland produces Thyroxine (T4) and Triiodothyronine( T3) which are important for the normal growth and metabolisam.

  • Prolactin: Secreted by the pituitary gland, production of which is prograssively increased dring preganancy and helps in initiation and maintenance of lactation after childbirth.

Question 7

Ans:Corpus Leuteum is formed after ovulation from the ruptured follicles. Differentiated cells of folicle forming the corpus leutium acts as a gland secreting hormones for maintaining pregnancy. If the ovum gets fertilized the corpus luteum remains active. In case of abscene of fertilization corpus luteum undergo breakdown reducing the secretion of hormone from them which inturn triggers the menstural cycle. They produce high level of progestrone and moderate levels of estrogen and inhibin A.
