1a) using your body to measure length.

I will calculate these things based on dimensions of my feet i.e. my step size.

The steps required by me to cross a 50ft distance are 43.

Therefore my step size is 50/43=0.86ft.

I chose a standard sized chalkboard. The number of steps required to traverse the length of the chalkboard=15

Therefore the length of the chalkboard=0.86×15=13ft

1b) using a British measuring tape or ruler

Format L W H
In inches and fractions 12inches+3/25th inch 6 inch+7/50th inch 7inch+4/11th inch
In decimal inches

12.12inch

One inch is almost 2.54cm. Therefore

1cm is 25/64th of an Inch=0.39inch

1mm=0.039inch

Since 3/25th inch=0.12

Therefore 30.8cm=12.12inch

6.14inch

Once again 1inch =2.54cm

Therefore 15.6cm=15.6/2.54=6.14inch

7.36inch

1inch=2.54cm

Therefore 18.7cm=7.36inch

Centimetres in decimal

Format

1cm=10mm.

Therefore 1mm=0.1cm.

30cm+8mm=30.8cm

15.6cm

Once again 1mm=0.1cm

Therefore 6mm=0.6cm

Therefore 15cm+6mm=15.6cm

Here 7mm=0.7cm

Therefore 18cm+7mm=18.7cm

2a)the volume of shoebox

in​​​​​​​​​​3=12.12×6.14×7.36=547.70in3

cm​​​​​3​​​​=30.8×15.6×18.7=8984.97cm3

2b) the volume of water used in this demonstration is 850ml

When the metal object was submerged in water the volume was 970ml. The volume increase occurs due to the volume of the metal ball which displaces water which is equal to its volume

Therefore the volume of the metal object was 970-850=120ml
