Consider a program you could install on your own personal web page to display your city's current time and temperature. What threats could this program cause to you? To the people who visit your web site? What controls could counter those threats?

Depending on the source of program we are installing on our web page to display our city's current name and temperature. If we downloaded genuine program from genuine source then we have nothing to worry about.

  • Suppose if we have downloaded malicious program then it may be possible that installed program may store some private values that don't need to be disclosed are going to store some other database without our knowledge. Now, this leads to the trust issue on us as we are solely responsible for their data safety.
  • First we need to check that we are downloading the programs from genuine source. Along with that we need to further monitor the behavior of program we are installing. If we are seeing some unexpected behavior then we must uninstall them first and then ask the help from program provider.
