Binding of a ligand to adrenergic receptor cause activation of the receptor by phosphorylation. This further leads to the activation of adenylate cyclase and the production of cAMP.

Elevated cAMP levels activate PKA which phosphorylates its downstream targets to mediate the effects of the signaling.

Activated PKA also phosphorylates arrestins which go and bind to the receptor to terminate the signal.

There is no role of ca+2 in this signaling cascade.
