There are four stages in the healing of a wound:
homeostasis phase: It is the process of wound closure by coagulation, it starts when the blood leaves the body, then the blood vessels contract to restrict the flow of blood. The platelets join to seal the wound of the blood vessel, thus the fibrins begin to form a mesh. As this mesh begins, the blood is transformed from liquid to gel through the coaclantes and the release of prothrombin.
Inflammatory phase: is the second phase of wound healing, it begins when the affected vessel lose a liquid composed by water, salt and proteins (transudate). The inflammation controls the bleed and prevent an infection. the acumulation of liquid in this zone, makes possible the transport of cell and nutrients to heal this lesson. This phase is the responsable of inflammation and pain in this zone.
Proliferative phase: it is when the wound is reconstructed with new tissue composed of collagen and extracellular matrix. In the proliferation phase, the wound contracts as new tissues are built. In addition, a new network of blood vessels must be constructed so that the granulation tissue can be healthy and receive sufficient oxygen and nutrients. The myofibroblasts cause the wound to contract by grasping the edges of the wound and bringing them together, somewhat similar to smooth muscle cells. In the end, the epithelial cells resurface the lesion.
Maduration phase: is when the wound is completely closed, the cells used in the repair process are eliminated by apoptosis. In the proliferative phase, the collagen is disorganized, in this last phase, the collagen is aligned and tensioned forming a cross-linking of fibers, strengthening the wound area.

6. (11 marks). Students sometimes compare different instructors teaching the same course and claim that one instructor is harder than another. The Department of Mathematics at the University of Kazoo decided to test this claim. They asked two different calculus instructors, Dr. Reimann and Dr. Poincaire, to prepare final exams and 20 volunteer students who had already passed calculus with other instructors to write both exams (one in the morning and one in the afternoon). The students grades were then...
