One of the major family and couple counselling theories is Structural Family theory which was developed by Salvador Minuchin. This theory suggests that there are certain rules that governs each family. If members of the family disobey or violate those rules there arises the issue. So, Structural Family theory explains the importance of making family members and couples understand the rules of the house and the need to stick to the rules. This would bind the members tight thus helping them overcome their relational issues.
